Why We Direct Oyo Civil Servants to Wear Native Attires, Aso – Oke on Thursdays – Oyo HOS

The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni has said that the present administration in the State approved the wearing of the Aso oke  native attires to boost local economy through fabrics and promote Yoruba culture  and tradition in the State.

In a statement issued and signed in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, the Head of Service stated that wearing of Aso oke native attires  would surely expand the sales of the local fabrics industry adding that, it would be a useful avenue to promote the Yoruba culture.

She pointed out that civil servants would have the opportunities to wear it at different times rather than just keeping it at home after ceremonies.

She hinted that the present administration in the State under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE  approved the wearing of the Aso-Oke and other traditional attires on Thursdays for all Civil/Public Servants to enhance the economy of the local fabric industries either through weaving, selling or sewing it.

She said. “As people are wearing it, the manufacturers would produce more and it would boost the economy of those that are trading in it or sewing it and even tying the gele in the State”. The statement said.

The Head of Service said Governor Seyi Makinde believes so much in the welfare of the masses, hinting that, the Governor is running a people focused government and this was why he is focusing on the aso oke traders in this instance.

She enjoined Civil/Public Servants across the State to wear the native in a moderate manner, noting that, not as if they are going to social gatherings,  saying that the purpose of wearing it, is to promote the culture and economy of the local manufacturers and boost tourism sector of the State.

Mrs Olubunmi Oni then directed the Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the State to ensure strict compliance of the development among the Civil/Public Servants across the State.

Oyo Permanent Secretaries Donate Food to Motherless Babies Homes for Gov. Makinde’s Birthday

The Forum of Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies on Tuesday donated food items to Motherless Babies homes to mark Governor Seyi Makinde’s birthday celebration.

The forum visited Motherless Babies Home, Yemetu, Juvenile Correctional Institution, Sango and the rehabilitation center for the disabled, Moniya, Ibadan.

Speaking on behalf of the Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni mni, the Permanent Secretary/Inspector General of Education, Ibadan zone, Mrs. Oyeyemi Ojo said it is the culture of the forum to go out to the less privileged, Motherless Babies Homes every year to celebrate and donate food items to mark the birthday of Governor Seyi Makinde.

She said “we are here on behalf of the Head of Service to donate food items and to mark the birthday of Governor Seyi Makinde, this is how we do it every year to celebrate the birthday of the performing Governor of the Pacesetter State”.

The Head of Service charged Civil Servants in the State to remember the less privileged in their environment and other people that were in need at the yuletide period.

Mrs. Olubunmi Oni also admonished them to celebrate Christmas with moderation and maintain peace and orderliness while celebrating.

Responding, the Matron of the Home, Mrs. Aderinola Oke appreciated the Association for remembering their homes as part of the activities to mark Governor Seyi Makinde Birthday anniversary.

Olubunmi Oni One Year in Office as Oyo HOS: Corporate Civil Service, Accelerated Development and Sustainable Development

If you are white, people cannot say that you are black because it is an open secret, you cannot call white black, they are distinct colours entirely.

Mrs. Olubunmi Oni mni, the 29th Oyo State Head of Service is a quintessential administrator in the pacesetter State with the cutting edge, she has traversed the length and breadth of the Civil Service with unblemish track records in the State.

No wonder Permanent Secretaries, Executive Secretaries, General Managers and the newly minted Tutor-Generals and Solicitor Generals keyed into the agenda and administrative prowess of the Olubunmi Oni led Head of Service in Oyo State.

She was sworn-in as the Head of Service on the 9th May, 2023 by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde at the Executive Council Chamber Secretariat, Ibadan.

When she assumed duty, she facilitated training programmes for senior management staff and junior staff both locally and in the diaspora.

In terms of development, like Seyi Makinde like Olubunmi Oni, as Seyi Makinde is developing the State from mere ancient State to modern State, Olubunmi Oni mni is developing the State Civil Service from dossier to digital and corporate Civil/Public Service.

Olubunmi Oni led Head of Service in Oyo State encouraged Civil Servants across the State to develop themselves by making use of the Library at the Office of the Head of Service to further sharpen their knowledge in the service.

Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development said Mrs Olubunmi Oni’s One Year in Office as the Head of Service has been impactful as she has tactically touched Ministries, Departments and Agencies with lots of restructuring, it became clearer and strategic what the activities of each agency should be, when the vision is clear, it is easier to achieve.

“She ensures regular meetings of the Heads of MDA’s to review activities for strategic development of Oyo State. She is passionate about setting a target and achieving such a target, under her watch, we are moving from the archaic style of doing things to the corporate Civil Service”.

Dr. Muhideen Olatunji is the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board. He gave kudos to the current Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni mni, saying that, there is peace in the public sector, he described the Head of Service as a woman of virtue that has path with destiny, one thing you cannot take away from her, is her humility and she is approachable just like the former Head of Service, Mrs. Ololade Agboola.

“She has been able to bring togetherness among the key officers in the civil service, civil servants have been able to get their promotion regularly, indeed, she is a formidable woman”.

The Chairman Forum of Administrative Officers, Oyo State Mr. Kayode Muyiwa said the current Head of Service has moved the administrative cadre forward with her open door policy.

Interestingly, the current Head of Service facilitated training and re-training for all staff, regular promotion exercise, staff welfare and supervision of day-to-day activities of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Government.

Public Service Week: Discharge Your  Duties with Fear of God – Oyo HOS Charges Civil Servants

The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, mni has urged Civil/Public  Servants in the State to discharge their duties optimally with the fear of God.

She stated this during the church service to mark the 2024 Public Service Week held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan.

She urged Civil Servants to be dedicated to their duties and loyal to the State with integrity in decision-making.

The Head of Service Solicited for the support of all residents of Oyo State to do their best to make Oyo State and Nigeria great again.

She said “We must endeavour to rise to the occasion of ensuring that professionalism is on the front burner in the Service at all times. Not forgetting the fact that embracing technological innovations will equally enhance our relevance in modern governance”.

The 2024 Public Service Week/Productivity Merit Award was put together by the Office of the Head of Service, Oyo State.

In his sermon, the Provost Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, Very Reverend Samuel Olawoyin commended Governor Seyi Makinde on the recruitment of the teaming unemployed Youths roaming about the street into the Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as various welfare packages for the Civil Servants in the State.

Reverend Olawoyin enjoined Principals of Secondary Schools in the State to teach students in the way of God, hinting that, knowledge without Godliness will destroy the owner of that knowledge, also stressing that Education without Godliness is tantamount to nothing in life.

We Will Continue to Support Professionals in Public Service – Oyo HOS

The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni mni has disclosed that the present administration in the State would continue to provide necessary support for the professional bodies in the civil service whenever the need arises.

She stated this during a courtesy visit by the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) at the HOS conference room, Secretariat, Ibadan.

She Admonished the association to provide opportunity for their members for self development which according to her would help their carrier growth in the service.

The Head of Service was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Service Matters, Mr. Paul Oyekunle enjoined the association to continue to train their members so that they will not be burdened to the society after their retirement in the service.

She added that Office of the Head of Service had organised several retired training programmes to prepare staff for post retirement challenges after the active service.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the team, Dr. Samuel Esanju commended the State Government for sponsoring local and international conferences for members of the association.

Esanju also appreciated the State Government for the regular promotion exercise and welfare enhancement of his members to reach the peanacle of their carrier.

Makinde Approves Hazard, Shift  Allowances For Oyo Fire Services Agency

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has approved hazard and shift allowances for men of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency.

The State Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni, made this known during a courtesy visit to her office by the staff of the agency at the HOS conference room, Secretariat, Ibadan.

She said the present administration would purchase additional fire fighting trucks, loose equipment, and additional working tools to improve the efficiency of the agency.

Mrs Oni enjoined officers of the agency to be committed and dedicated to work in their various duty posts to contribute their own quota to the development of the State.

She said, “The new hazard allowance was in response to the earlier request of the management of the Agency.

She added that the N50 Naira hazard allowance had been in place since 1994 before the new approval in 2024.

The implementation of the new hazard allowances for the staff will further boost their morale and commitment to fire fighting safety, as well as their well-being.”

In his remarks, the General Manager of the Agency, Reverend Akinyemi Akinyinka, hinted that the approval would serve as a morale booster and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the men of the agency to perform their duty optimally.

He added further that Governor Makinde has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the state workforce, with assurance that his administration would continue to prioritise the well-being of its workers.

Meritocracy: We ‘ll Continue To Produce Best Manpower For Civil/Public Service – Oyo HOS

The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, has said that the present administration in the State would continue to select officers to the highest echelon of the civil service based on merit.

She stated this during an official visit to the venue of the appointment exercise of the Permanent Secretaries, Inspectors General of Education, Tutors General and Heads of Extra Ministerial Departments in the State Civil Service, held at Otunba Subomi Balogun, Conference Center, University of Ibadan.

She said the screening exercise is based on merit and other considerations that are necessary would be factored in, after the exercise by the panelists.

She said “this is not the first time we are having this exercise, this is the second time from the present administration, the first day from this exercise, we had about 800 people sitting for the exam, second day, we had about 160, the last batch appears today (Friday) for the final screening exercise”.

The Head of Service said she was satisfied with the conduct of the screening exercise, hinting that, the exercise has been successful from the part of the Government and the Panelists, the retired Head of Service from the South West, retired Permanent Secretaries and other eminent personalities from academic and professional bodies made the list of the panelists that screened the applicants.

She enjoined Civil Servants to read more, train themselves as the Government cannot do it all alone.

Responding, the retired Head of Service from Ekiti State, Mr Ayodeji Ajayi commended the State Government for selecting the best for the highest echelon in the Civil/Public Service based on merit.

Ajayi said “Oyo State is doing very well on the appointment of the top officers in the Civic Service based on merit, Civil Service is the engine room of the Government and the moment the mediocres get to the top, they mess the whole place up, with this exercise Oyo State is setting the pace for others to follow.

He added further that Oyo State has quality officers that are well read and also imbibe tenets of the Civil Service that can stand behind the political class to deliver on the promises made to the good people of Oyo State.

Makinde Approves Hazard Allowance For OYRTMA Officers, Inaugurates Oyo HOS, 2 PS, 47 Others As Marshals

Oyo State Governor ‘Seyi Makinde on Monday approved hazard allowance for personnel of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, OYRTMA just as he inaugurated the State Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni, two permanent secretaries and 47 others as Marshals

The two permanent secretaries are Dr. G.O Oyedele, who is of General Administration and Alhaji Akeem Salami of Cabinet and Special Services.

Governor Makinde gave the approval for the hazard allowance which he said will take effect from August 1, 2024, at the passing-out parade of 500 newly recruited OYRTMA officers and inauguration of its Marshals at the NYSC Orientation camp in Iseyin.

The gesture was in response to an earlier request by the Executive Chairman of the OYRTMA Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd.) for the

implementation of hazard allowance for its staff to further boost their morale and commitment to road safety as well as their well-being.

According to the Governor, the approval is in recognition of the agency’s achievements in road management across the State.

He stated that the approval would serve as a morale booster for more effectiveness and efficiency in performing their duty

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the State workforce, assuring that his administration will continue to prioritise the well-being of its workers.

“On our part as an administration, we will continue to prioritize your welfare as we have always done for all our workers since we assumed office in 2019.

” You asked for hazard allowance and I agree with you that you face quite a number of hazards. The work we have asked you to do is fraught. with a lot of hazards.

“So, your hazard allowance is approved and would be effective August 1, 2024. So, I want to wish you well and thank you for the work you are doing for our State.”

In his earlier address the S tate Chairman of the OYRTMA, Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd) expressed gratitude to Governor’ Seyi Makinde for his continued support to the OYRTMA staff .

He stated that the” recruitment process was rigorous and thorough, designed to ensure that only the most qualified and capable individuals joined our ranks

“They have undergone intensive training and are now ready to enforce traffic rules and regulations ensuring the safety and efficiency of our roads”, he said

While requesting for hazard allowance for the personnel, Adesagba noted that officers face several hazards during their duties which include traffic accidents resulting in injuries, permanent disabilities, or even death.

Governor Makinde, after the inauguration, inspected the ongoing construction works at the Faculty of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources of the Ladoke Akintola University located in Iseyin.

We Have Invested Over 500 Million Naira To Upgrade Infrastructure, State – Of- The Art Equipment For Nursing Education – Oyo Govt.

The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, mni has disclosed that the present administration has invested over 500 Million Naira in Upgrading Infrastructure and acquiring State- of- the- Art Equipment for Nursing Education in the State.

She said the State Government recognizes the pivotal role of technology in enhancing Nursing education and practice, in line with the Oyo State Roadmap for Sustainable Development (Omituntun 2.0).

She stated these while delivering her goodwill message at the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Annual Scientific Conference Award Ceremony held at the Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.

The Head of Service said the evolution of nursing education in the State was a testament to the dedication of the present administration in the area of improved Health Care Services to the general public.

She opined that the State Government has forwarded a bill amending the name of the Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery to Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences.

She said, “the integration of technology in Nursing education and practice is essential for improving patient outcomes and strengthening the resilience of our healthcare system by equipping our nurses with technological competencies, it will enhance their ability to deliver efficiently, patient centered care that will contribute to the overall well- being of the society “.

Oni called on philanthropists and other stakeholders in the private sector to join hands with the initiative of government to build a robust technological driven nursing education system that will meet with the evolving healthcare needs of the nation.

At the well attended event, award of recognition was bestowed on the State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, mni.

In her remarks, the President of the Society, Professor Olabisi Adejumo commended the present administration in the State under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde on his efforts in modernising Nursing Schools and training facilities in collaboration with renowned institutions and technology providers across the State.

Stakeholders Commend Oyo Govt. Over Online Property Title Search

… It will Boost Our IGR – Oyo HOS

Oyo State Government has revealed that through the existing technological supports, it has digitalized a total of 438, 091 Property cards for public access.

This was revealed during the launch of the Online Property Title Search Platform by Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan.

Speaking during the launch, held at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, the Governor, described the platform as a profound accomplishment that marks a significant milestone in his administration’s journey towards a more efficient and transparent lands administration system.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Segun Ogunwuyi, the Governor said the Online Property Search platform, developed by Oyo State Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development in partnership with her revenue Land Consultants, Messrs Private Network Nigeria  Limited, is a veritable tool for enhancing, transforming and digitalizing the process for property search in the State.

He said, “transparency and accessibility are fundamental pillars in pursuit of progress and development in our Omituntun 2.0 working document, the Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023 – 2027”

“We promised the people of this State to simplify land administration processes and further enhance the documentation of private lands. Today, with the launch of this online portal, we take a decisive step forward in simplifying the process of property acquisition and registration in Oyo State. This initiative not only aligns with our administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for public service but also underscores our dedication to ensuring that every citizen has equal access to information and resources”, he added.

He continued, “With the Online Property Search platform, residents, investors, and stakeholders can now navigate the complexities of property transactions with ease. Whether it’s verifying land titles, checking property ownership records, or understanding zoning regulations, this platform empowers users with the tools they need to make informed decisions swiftly and securely.”

The State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, noted that the launch of the online platform marks a crucial step forward in the collective quest for innovation, transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in the realm of property ownership and transactions within the Lands sector in Oyo State.

She commended the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development for the laudable idea of embracing technology to improve service delivery to the people of Oyo State.

“The online property search feature will make the process easier, more convenient, and faster, allowing citizens to conduct property searches from anywhere in the world.”, she said.

She noted that the humongous tasks of the Ministry can be more effectively and efficiently carried out with minimal challenges through the support of technologically driven innovations, such as the online property search platform.

She admonished the civil servants that will drive the process to ensure the technology driven property search being launched today is owned by them.

“They should be willing to provide regular data updates and be ready to learn”, she said.

Speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Akin Funmilayo Williams noted that the platform will enhance service delivery by transitioning from manual property search to an online system.

The Commissioner added that the platform is also a testament to the Ministry’s commitment to harnessing technology to improve the lives of citizens.

He said it represents a new era of accessibility, convenience, and inclusivity in the property sector, empowering citizens to make informed decisions about their property choices, fostering economic growth, and enhancing our global competitiveness

He urged all stakeholders, from citizens to investors, to embrace the new era of accessibility and efficiency.

Also, the General Manager of Private Networks Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ladigbolu Ayodeji said the platform will enable authorized individuals and organizations easy access to property information and transactional details from anywhere around the globe.

He lauded the Oyo State Government for keying into technology, adding that the platform will reduce the bureaucratic hurdles in search for property information and enhance efficiency.

The event was witnessed by key stakeholders, including Estate Surveyors, representatives of Nigeria Bar Association among others, who solicited a wider spectrum to sensitize citizens on how the platform works.
