Embrace Developmental Journalism Oyo HOS Tasks Lagos Online Journalists
Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, mni has tasked professional online Journalists Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter to Embrace Developmental Journalism in their daily reportage.
The HOS stated this while receiving the professional online Journalists Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter in her office at the Secretariat, Ibadan.
Mrs. Oni emphasized the importance of journalists as key stakeholders in nation-building and development, saying the role of journalists in society is critical and important.
She explained that journalists being the Fourth estate of the realm needs to serve as the watchdogs for those in power, to be accountable and keep the public informed.
She stressed on the significance of disseminating correct information to foster peace and progress in the Country, explaining the need for journalists to uphold ethical standards and focus on investigative reporting.
The Head of Service also expressed the present administration’s commitment to collaborating with journalists, offering training and re-training opportunities to enhance their skills.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Professional online Journalists Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, Mr. Kehinde Sonola commended the State Government for appointing Mrs. Olubunmi Oni as the Head of Service, adding that her appointment is a round peg in a round hole.
He noted that her appointment reflects the Government’s commitment to placing skilled individuals in key positions and supporting the growth and development of the State.
